WIP Wednesday: Still Dreaming

Knitting:
I’ve skipped a couple weeks because I was so distressed over the lack of progress I feel that I’m making. I’ve finally reached that point where one repeat takes 20 minutes and it’s just sad making. On the plus side I’m nearly done transitioning to color 5 and I’ve less than 40 rows to go.

I also started a pair of socks to work on at the con. That didn’t actually go all that well as I think I had maybe an hour of not running around frantically. I started them over 3 times and unpicked stitches countless times as I kept getting interrupted when I’d get going. I suspect they’ll need another restart.

Sewing:
I ‘have’ to have this dress done by this weekend or I’m stuck wearing the same dress that I’ve been wearing and it’s hot and annoying with the buttons and the zipper. I have to have help getting into it and did I mention it’s hot? This one is a lot cooler and zero buttons or zippers. I still need to tack down the elastic at the neck but then I’ll call it done for this event. I know I’m going to love making the everyday dress out of this material and I’m thrilled I bought so much of it.

Quilting:
Another block has finally been released! This one is called Shoo Fly. I at least have some of the components ready since they are left over from another block we did earlier.

Writing:
I know the next bit of Heart’s Quest I just need to sit down and write. I’m finding the sitting part hard to manage at this point. I suspect I have entirely too much going on. I keep thinking things will slow down but it doesn’t seem to be doing so no matter how hard I push on the brakes.

Working Out:
This went on hold in May when I got the job. I kept saying I’d get back to it after I adjusted to a regular schedule. Then it was after SCC was over. And now I’m adjusted, con’s over, there’s no excuse. And yet … It’s ‘really’ hard to get up that early in the morning and entirely too hot in the evenings, if we don’t have other things planned. But I’ve lost another 5 pounds so that works.

Shadow’s Knit Knacks site:
I’m so far behind on things. I need to fix the logo and figure out why it’s not showing up. Then I have a 100 other small things to do and update. :sigh:

Space City Con 2014 Winter Event:
Yes, you read that correctly. We’re moving to 2 conventions a year beginning Jan 2014. I just thought I was getting a break. We’ve already hit the ground running and are working on smoothing out things we need to fix and making processes a bit more automatic. I can’t wait until we can start announcing more plans for the coming event!

Reading:

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris. I’m doing all I can to finish out the series super quick. I have so many to read and so little time. I do love Sookie and the stories surrounding her. I’m also a fan of the tv series, even though they’re only slightly related at this point. I get a little annoyed at the repetition of facts but I keep reminding myself I’m coming to the stories late and they were originally released with a bit of time between them, so the reminders of who is who and why things are was actually helpful.

The shawl is looking beautiful. I tend to do a lot of big knitting projects too and it can get discouraging not to have much progress to show. My solution is usually to grab a skein of colorful sock yarn. Gotta love those fast, cute projects.

  7. Gorgeous shawl. We all hit a wall with certain projects. It will be over soon; at least you only have 40 rows left!
