Fairy Defense

I participate in live action role play and I found that I needed padding across the back of my hands. While I did consider basic fingerless gloves I needed a good grip on my sword. I had a pair of fingerless gloves that I loved the pattern on and they added a nice cushion to the back of the hand. The main idea behind this design is Fireworks Fingerless Mitts by Megan Bayonet. I am simply modifying it to work for my needs.

Need:

Yarn – 23 yards DK weight yarn, (I used Plymouth Dreambaby DK).

Needles: US #2 / 2.75mm DPNs

Gauge: 8 Stitches x 14 Rows in 1 Inch

Special Abbreviations:

K1CO: Pick up one stitch from cast on row and place on left needle. Knit this stitch and next stitch together. You may need to skip a stitch or two in the cast on row to make the hem turn up evenly.

Sl3wyif: Move yarn to front of work, as though to purl. Slip 3 stitches purlwise. Move yarn to back of work as though for a knit stitch. Will leave a line of yarn in front of the slipped stitches.

Gather: Insert right needle under the slipped yarn and knit next stitch. Slip the knitted stitch under the yarn, it’s caught behind the center of the 3 stitches.

Cast on 52 stitches (16 on needle 1, 16 on needle 2, 20 on needle 3) The pattern is a 4 stitch repeat so adjust as needed.
